Live Wedding Illustration at Trevenna Barns, Cornwall
Set in beautiful Cornish grounds, Trevenna Barns is one of those venues that makes an illustrator's job easy — every corner offers something worth capturing. For a very lovely couple's wedding in July 2026, the whole day took place at Trevenna Barns itself, moving between two of its distinct spaces: the ceremony in the Mowhay, followed by the reception in the Garden Venue.
Two Spaces, Two Stations
I set up at Station #1 in the Mowhay to capture the ceremony, then moved to Station #2 in the Garden Venue for the reception as the day continued. Having the flexibility to work across both spaces meant the illustration could follow the couple's day exactly as it unfolded, rather than being limited to a single fixed spot.
That flexibility is very much part of what Trevenna Barns offers as a venue — the spaces adapt to however you want your day to run, and that made it easy to be right there among the action throughout.

Illustrating Among the Guests
One of my favourite parts of this wedding was being set up right alongside the guests. It meant people could watch the illustrations take shape as the day went on, stopping by between moments to see their portrait come to life on paper in real time.
The grounds themselves were beautiful, the couple were lovely to work for, and the Trevenna Barns team were brilliant throughout — genuinely one of the best-run venues I've illustrated at.
A Perfect Rainy-Day Plan
As it happened, this was a good day to have a rain plan in place, although luckily for my couple they had a beautifully dry day! Because I was illustrating entirely indoors — first in the Mowhay bar, then in the Garden Venue — the weather made no difference to the day at all. It's a good reminder that live illustration works just as well tucked inside a beautiful barn as it does out in the open air.
