Getting Married at Bow Grange? Here's What Live Illustration Adds to Your Day

Because Bow Grange isn't tied to a single traditional look, every wedding held there tends to feel different — couples bring their own colours, styling, and personality to the space. That variety is a gift for live illustration: instead of capturing a "typical" barn wedding, each piece ends up reflecting the couple's own version of the day.
For this couple's wedding that I drew for in May, the ceremony itself took place at their local church, with the celebrations moving to Bow Grange afterwards — meal and speeches inside, then entertainment, an outdoor BBQ, and a live band outside as the evening went on.
From Ceremony to Reception
One of the nice things about illustrating a day like this is following it as it moves through different settings and moods — the formality of the meal and speeches indoors, then the shift outside into a more relaxed, celebratory atmosphere as the band struck up and the BBQ got going.
My illustration station was set up outside in beautiful warm weather, but also under cover, which meant I had a wonderful vantage point for the first dance — getting to watch the couple's first dance as husband and wife while sketching live, with the outdoor setting and band right there, was a genuinely lovely moment to be part of.
