Live event illustration at Woodbury Park, Devon
There is a unique kind of pressure, and a massive amount of pride, that comes with creating art for a cause that touches us all. Recently, I had the absolute honour of providing live event illustration for the Hospiscare Charity Ball, held at the beautiful Woodbury Park.
Making a Grand Entrance with Illustrated Signage
My contribution to the evening was a specially commissioned "Thank You For Supporting Hospiscare" illustration, which stood proudly at the entrance to greet guests. Knowing that my work was the first thing people saw as they stepped out of the cold and into a night of giving was a wonderful feeling.

It was a classic black-tie affair, and the guests took that brief seriously! Everywhere I looked, everyone looked ready to be at a high-end fashion show! The atmosphere was honestly electric.
Huge thanks to Gina Bentley for capturing the night with her wonderful photos!
Why Hospiscare Matters
We all know that cancer doesn't just affect the individual; it ripples out through families and friendships. Most of us have been touched by it in some way, whether through a personal battle or supporting someone we love. Hospiscare provides that essential light in the dark, offering tireless support for patients and their inner circles. Being able to use my skills as a live event illustrator to support their mission felt like a real privilege for me.
The Power of Community
The highlight of the night, of course, was the sheer generosity of the attendees. I am thrilled to share that the event raised a staggering:
£20,038
Throughout the evening, I also took donations in exchange for my illustrations. Knowing that my creative process contributed directly to that final total made the night truly unforgettable and even more worthwhile.
A huge thank you to Joe and the team at Hospiscare for having me. And to everyone who donated or stopped by to chat about my work: thank you.
