Live Illustrating a Wedding at Bickley Mill Inn

What an absolute joy it was to spend the day live illustrating a wedding at Bickley Mill Inn, tucked away near Newton Abbot.

If you haven't been, Bickley Mill Inn is a real Devon gem — whitewashed stone walls, exposed timbers and log fires, set among decked gardens and a rustic barn. It's the kind of venue that feels both grand and completely relaxed at the same time, and it made the most beautiful backdrop for a day of celebration. This is a fabulous choice for couples, and the perfect venue to suit a live illustrator.

Throughout the day, I set up my station and welcomed guests over to sit for their own keepsakes. It's such a wonderful way to add something to a wedding day — guests get to watch themselves come to life on the page, it becomes a talking point around the room, and everyone goes home with a genuinely one-of-a-kind keepsake from the day, rather than just a photo.
